Design Philosophy

The Swiss architect Le Corbusier once wrote: "Architecture is the masterly, correct, and magnificent play of masses brought together in light. Our eyes are made to see forms in light; light and shade reveal these forms...". These words eloquently express the contribution that the work of an architectural lighting designer can bring to a project. The challenge that he or she faces is the successful integration of light and architectural space. It is a careful balancing act between science and art.

Building programs have become ever more sophisticated and complex, and a lighting designer’s role is to develop solutions that are at the same time supporting of the architectural concepts and conducive to the user activities within each space. These objectives need to be fulfilled in a practical and sustainable way.

Artenluz is an architectural lighting design firm offering services centered around a philosophy of design excellence and client satisfaction. We follow a multidisciplinary approach in the integration of lighting systems to the building design. In order to achieve this, we constantly seek to play a proactive role in the design team’s effort to develop solutions that are not only aesthetic and innovative, but functional and cost-effective as well.

At Artenluz we are sensible to the impact that lighting can have not only in the way we perceive our environment, but also in the message that it is able to transmit or reinforce. That is why one of the main goals we seek to achieve in our projects is the creation of the right luminous atmosphere for each activity and space, whether it is a place destined for work, play, living, or worship.
