Artenluz is organized as a design studio led by Javier Ten who has a background in architecture and has been involved full time in the lighting design field for over fifteen years. Before founding Artenluz he worked at Fisher Marantz Stone and Partners in New York, participating in a wide of range projects which included the award-winning Museum of Natural History’s Rose Center for Earth and Space (Polshek and Partners, Architects) and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston (Rafael Moneo, Architect). Mr. Ten holds a Master of Science in Lighting from the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has earned his professional certification from the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) He has been a speaker in events organized by the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA).
Artenluz operates as an independent consultant firm developing lighting projects and specifications for a wide variety of building types, such as residential, offices, commercial, institutional, hospitality, and museums. Our focus considers the theme of light from aesthetic, technical, functional, and sustainable viewpoints.
